Camp Principles

Three field habits for a cleaner site.

Leave No Trace starts before the first stake goes into the ground. A better-packed kit makes it easier to protect the site, manage power and cooking safely, and close camp without leaving small items behind.

Choose the right camp surface.

Set tents, chairs, storage bins, and cooking gear on durable ground or established areas. Keep the camp footprint compact so natural spaces around it stay undisturbed.

Site Care

Keep cooking controlled.

Use a defined prep zone, pack cleanup cloths, store food securely, and keep cookware together. A contained kitchen helps prevent scraps, spills, and forgotten utensils.

Manage light and power with intention.

Charge before arrival, store cables in a pouch, collect used batteries, and use warm campsite lighting that supports visibility without overpowering the night.

Pack Out System

Make cleanup part of the setup.

The easiest way to leave a site cleaner is to design the cleanout before the trip begins. Give waste, wet gear, cookware, batteries, and small tools their own place so the final sweep feels simple.

Pack a dedicated waste pouch. Use one visible bag for wrappers, small scraps, and campsite trash instead of mixing it with clean storage.
Separate cookware before dark. Keep wash items, towels, utensils, and portable cookware together so dinner cleanup does not scatter across camp.
Store power accessories in one case. Collect cables, batteries, adapters, and power banks in a marked pouch before packing the main bag.
Finish with a low-angle site sweep. Scan under tables, around tent corners, and near lantern stands for small items that disappear in grass or gravel.

Night Camp Etiquette

Let the campsite glow, not glare.

Use lanterns and power gear with purpose. Keep light focused around your own camp kitchen, tent entry, and walking path, then lower brightness once the site is settled.

01

Arrive with a site plan.

Know where shelter, cooking, storage, lighting, and seating will sit before unloading every bag.

02

Keep gear off fragile growth.

Place heavier items on durable ground, established pads, or compact surfaces that can handle regular use.

03

Make storage visible.

Use pouches, bins, and carry systems that help every tool return to the same place after use.

04

Reset before departure.

Check tent corners, cooking areas, fire-safe zones, charging spots, and seating areas before leaving camp.
